Issue: Lower (green) longerons coming unfastened from bow.

Postby Apathizer on Wed Jul 28, 2010 2:28 pm

I bought a Cooper a little less than a year ago, and while i love it overall i am having a minor issue: The lower (green dots) longerons keep unfastening from the butterfly fixture of the bow-keel assembly. I attach the longerons as instructed but after the boat is assembled, and when i tighten the handwheel, the lower longerons come off the front butterfly assembly.

I know this is a fairly minor issue, but wanted to see if anyone else has (had) it, and better yet, if anyone has a solution. Thanx in advance for any constructive input :)

Are you sliding the aluminum tubes back on the plastic after hooking the butterfly on the bolts?? There is no way those can pull out once they are "captured".
If you are and they still pull out, call Wanda at Folbot and explain the problem.

Thanx Pete. Yes, i'm sliding the tubes back over the plastic. I think i might've figured out at least part of the problem: The butterfly fixture seems to have been bent at some point (probably during shipping). I played around with it with what little time i had today and it seems much better.

I do have one really stupid question (i know, there are no stupid questions, just stupid people  ): The tubes slide over the top of the butterfly fixtures, right? It didn't seem possible for the thinner part of the butterfly fixtures to fit inside the aluminum tubes, but just thought i'd ask to make sure. Thanx again Pete :D
