Can you help identify this?

Postby Jettaknight on Tue Feb 02, 2010 8:36 pm

This listing has been reposted multiple times on the Seattle area Craigslist, always at $500. I suspect he's just not getting much interest. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/boa/1582359891.html

Can any of you long-time Folbot experts identify this craft and the approximate age? Is the price reasonable? What should a person be prepared for in terms of repair/maintenance, etc. on this particular age and model? I'm not sure yet if I'm really interested or simply curious.

Thanks all!

It appears to be a Super "The Super Kit" or maybe the "The Super Factory" a factory built non folder. Most likely a kit version. If it's in good condition the price is reasonable. If it has accessories it's more than reasonable. If it's in good condition and you can pick it up without driving too far as it's really not shippable.
Best of luck. 73 Gary

Thanks guys for the information. Now that I know what it is, I'll read through all the collective knowledge and wisdom in the Forum about the Super! The one for sale is a Ferry boat ride away from home so maybe I'll have a field trip for the weekend.

Since it seems the Super was made over a fairly long period of time, are there any characteristics, design changes, etc to zero in a little closer to the "born on date"? I will read through the references suggested, but just wondering if there are some obvious identifiers.

Thanks again!

Hi Mike,

My father and I built a Folbot kit in the mid-70's when I was a teen. Its a rigid and has been hanging from my dad's garage ceiling for over 20 years. We used to use it quite a bit. The boat is still in great shape but dad wants to sell it.

If your field trip across The Sound turns out to be a disappointment, maybe you'd be interested in our Folbot? I think it is also the Super model. Dad is trying to find the paperwork on it now. (I measured on Friday, 16ft long, 37" wide, two seater)

Given the dimensions, I'd guess it's a Big Glider.
Can you post some pictures?
