Hello all....I am a new member from the Rochester, NY area and Dave suggested i get on this forum and ask the few questions I had for him. I just purchased what appears to be a 17' Super built in the 1950's with a maroon vinyl skin and was looking for a cover to fit that model. Dave's info suggested that the Super was 37" and the Greenland II was 34", so I'm not sure it will fit if I buy a new Greenland cover. Can anyone direct me on how to find a cover that fits?

Also, I'd like to be able to meet with local folks and learn a little more about how to refurbish the wood, patch holes, etc.

Thanks in advance for your response! :D

You will find a wealth of information searching through archives here and especially in the old forum. You will need to make your own cover for that old boat. The new Folbot company is not keen on supporting vintage products.

I have a cover for my GII but I don't remember how far down each side it covers. My brain has the impression that is covers pretty well so that it might fit the 3" wider Super and just cover the edges. No way to know for sure without trying one. I had a Super for two summers about 5 years ago but never thought to try my GII cover on it.

Anybody out there with a GII cover and access to a Super who could try the fit?

Thanks to all for your comments on a cover for my 1950's Super. Perhaps Dave can tell me if a new cover for a Greenland II at 34" will fit my 37" model. Dave or anyone else.....can you answer?

You may be the first person who ever wanted to cover 50 year old rotten vinyl with a new g2 cover.
Do you have any pictures?
What is the length of your Super?
Calculate volume of your Super and compare it to the volume of the g2.
Cut new frame members from plywood and varnish with urethane or epoxy or epoxy-fiberglass. Make new longerons from knot-free spruce, sand with fine sanpaper and varnish with urethane. Broken hardware like hinges on your super will pobably need to be fabricated, but some modern parts may be adaptable.

To find locations of forum members who choose to list it, go to the forum home page and select "members". Then scroll through the list looking for someone who has s
a desirable location and send them a private message.
Another option would be to to a search through existing posts for 'new York' and make a decision based on that. Alternatively, you could start a new thread entitled "anyone in the Rochester, NY area???"
good luck, lulu Dave.
