Flamingo Flotilla 2011! You're invited! 1/29-2/6/2011

Come one, come all, to -- get this -- are you ready? -- to the 10th
(yes, TENTH!) Annual Flamingo Folbot Flotilla! You don't want to miss
this one. There will be commemorative T-shirts! Mosquitoes!
Pancakes! Unpredictable weather! Gooey low tides! Large reptilians!
Shore birds, wading birds, rubber-eating birds! Exotic snakes, snake
birds, Snake Bight! Chickees, Chokoloskee chickens, chocolate chips!
Cypress knees and cypress domes! Hammocks and, well, hammocks!
(You'll see what I mean when you get there.)

The dates for 2011 are: Saturday, Jan. 29 - Sunday, Feb. 6. Come
early, stay late, suit yourself, but the pancake breakfast, weather
willing, is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 30th. I'm just saying.

Designs, suggestions, and/or photos for the commemorative T-shirts are
most welcome. We have several entries already, and the competition is getting fierce! We'll sell the garments at cost, so don't be looking for royalties. (;>)

Hi Ann,
Hope all is well with you. I plan to be there assuming Flamingo hasn't blown away. The forecasters seem to agree this hurricane season will be a bad one with computer models indicating patterns similar to 2005 which gave us Katrina. I will wait until after the season to make reservations. Earl

CA and I will be there, and she has a design for the "T" shirt, she just needs to finalize it. I put about as much faith in the hurricane predictors as I do rain dances.

Years ago, one of my daughters was denegating the effectiveness of "Rain Dances". I spent many years in the Southwest, so I had a position to defend. As I passed by my wife and daughters, who were engaged in the berating of "Rain Dances", I just said, "They worked." That caused a tirade ... all the females against ol' dad. After all the yadda, yadda, yadda from the females, one of them said, "They DO NOT work! That's just a bunch of bull. What makes you think that they DID work?" She shoulda known ... but, she walked right into it! I said very calmly, "Because they kept dancing until it rained." They were all speechless and ol' Dad just walked away. When ya got seven daughters, you just can't afford to lose your grip! And, ya gotta make every small opportunity to get a word in edgeways count.
